Pan Seared Sesame Encrusted Ahi Tuna

Ingredients

1/4 cup Black sesame seeds
1/4 cup White sesame seeds
1 tbs Sesame oil
2 6 oz Ahi steaks
Salt and pepper to taste
For Marinade
1/2 cup Low sodium soy sauce
1 Lime Juice and Zest
1-2 cloves Garlic (minced)
2 tbs Honey
1 tbs Sesame oil
2 tbs Cilantro leaves (chopped)

Instructions

Place all marinade ingredients in a small bowl and mix well. Reserve 1/2 of the mixture in a separate bowl for dipping. Place the tuna steaks in the marinade in a shallow container for 30 minutes to 1 hour. Remove the Tuna from the marinade , shake off the liquid and dab with a paper towel. Heat a thick bottom sautee pan over med heat and add 1tbsp sesame oil , the oil should be hot but not smoking. Now place the black & white sesame seeds on a plate and roll the tuna steaks in the seeds packing them into the tuna steaks. Add the tuna to the pan with oil ,gently shake to make sure its not sticking,sear on each side for 30 to 40 seconds. Carefull not to overcook, it should be very rare. Remove and slice, serve with the dipping sauce, also goes well with basmati rice and steamed vegetables.
